Gmail

Google does not let third-party programs into the mailbox with the regular email password. For WorkZeal to receive and send messages, you need to complete three steps: enable IMAP access, create an app password, and connect the account with that password.
Step 1. Enable IMAP access
- Sign in to your Gmail account
- In the upper right corner, click the "Settings" icon — See all settings.
- Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- In the "IMAP access" section, select Enable IMAP.
- Click Save Changes.

Step 2. Create an app password
If 2-Step Verification is enabled in your Google account, the regular email password will not work for the connection. WorkZeal needs a separate app password.
Here is how to check whether it is enabled: click your avatar in the upper right corner of Gmail, open Manage your Google Account — Security, and look at the 2-Step Verification line.

- Off: no app password is needed; in step 3, enter your regular email login and password.
- On: create an app password following Google's instructions https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833 and copy it: it is shown only once.
Step 3. Connect the account in WorkZeal
In WorkZeal, open Settings — Email — Add — Gmail, enter your email login and the password from step 2: the app password if 2-Step Verification is enabled, or the regular email password if it is disabled. Click Continue.

If the account was created earlier and you are creating the app password now, enter the new password in the same place: Settings — Email — click the Gmail account — Continue.
If something went wrong
Wrong account name or password
Alert
Error of Autification on IMAP serverWrong account name and/or password. The server responded: MBN00000003 NO [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure).
Meaning: authentication error on the IMAP server. Wrong account name and/or password. The server responded: invalid credentials (failure).
First, check the password and login themselves: letter case and keyboard layout matter.
If they are entered correctly, WorkZeal has not yet been granted access to the mailbox. In the "Credentials" window, click the Extend access link (it is in the "Attention" banner in the screenshot above) and allow access in the Google window that opens. After that, sign in to the email again, just in case, and retry the connection.

This happens when 2-Step Verification is enabled in the account, but an app password for WorkZeal has not been created. Go back to step 2, create an app password, and enter it in the WorkZeal email settings.
